why was I turned down for a store card when the letter said that it was not due to my credit record?
lily-bri asked:
hello everyone I am in the UK – any idea as to what is going on? I was turned down for an oasis store card but the letter said that there was nothing wrong with my credit report. I have lived abroad a lot during the last few years and I wonder if this could be related? Should I request a credit report?

You have to post this in UK, you posted in USA.
Go to United Kingdom at bottom of page
You should always look at your credit report if you’re not sure what’s going on. However, they also use things like income, time at current address (and/or previous), time at current job (and/or previous), and other things to assess credit risk. While your credit score may have been fine they may have felt your work or address history was risky or they felt your income wasn’t high enough.
I know in the US companies are required to disclose the reason for denying credit. I’m sure if you contacted the company you could find out the specific reason.
I have worked in stores for many years as a manager and I found that people would get turned down if they moved a lot or if they gave a different address than the one on the credit card provides… meaning that often you need to give a cc for the store to swipe along w/ the info you provide. If what you provide is different than that cc, you will get declined.
